Naturalistic Planting Design - Part 2
Creating beauty AND biodiversity in your garden
Available spots
Service Description
Our guest speaker, landscape design expert Aaron Fox, will review the concepts of naturalistic planting design from his fall Part 1 webinar, and demonstrate how to use them to design a naturalistic plant community that provides an appropriate balance between supporting biodiversity and providing aesthetic value. It will provide a process participants may be able to follow while designing their own plant communities, and outlines the steps involved in that process. Participants should have a clear sense of how naturalistic planting design differs from conventional planting design, as well as what they need to consider to effectively design a naturalistic plant community. Aaron Fox is a horticulturist and landscape architect who has worked on a diverse range of projects in the private and public sectors. A graduate of the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture, he also has a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Guelph and is a member of the Ontario and Canadian Associations of Landscape Architects. He has taught a variety of courses in the landscape and horticulture programs at several Colleges in Ontario and his education, work and teaching experience have helped him develop an in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of plants and how they can be used. His main interests include designing and creating plant communities that support biodiversity and improve the sustainability of a landscape, as well as encouraging people to think differently about plants and recognize their importance in the landscape.
